What to expect at our Open Day

Going to big school can be a huge adjustment for you and your little one. So you’re probably wondering, “What happens at a Nova Pioneer Open Day and what makes it unique?”

Open days are essentially just as the name suggests – days when we, at Nova Pioneer, open our doors to the community, have our school leaders available for questions from parents and our teams showcasing the school and our classrooms.

Open days are incredibly valuable resources in that they give parents and the child an idea as to what their potential ‘second home’ looks and feels like. They also provide parents with the opportunity to accumulate information beyond what is available on our website and brochures.

During the Open days, parents are given the opportunity to ask specifics about our curriculum, our learning approach, our other extracurricular programmes, and community spirit activities.

That being said, you may still be wondering what the assessment entails, what our classroom experience looks like and what we mean about building innovators and leaders that will shape the African Century?

What to look forward to at our next Open Day?

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our team at the registration table. Should you have booked to attend the Open Day prior, our team will check and confirm your details on the register and you will be marked in attendance. Ask the team for a Starter Pack (our school brochure) with all the information pertaining to school. Should you have walked in without registering beforehand, one of our team members will assist by taking down your details – you may also be required to fill out an Online Application so that we capture your details on the system.

Assessment

Each child from grade R level upwards is required to complete a grade level assessment. We do this to ensure that applicants from Grade R upwards are academically ready to enrol into the grade for which they have applied. The assessment focuses on numeracy and literacy skills. The assessments take about 60 minutes and are conducted by our academic staff at our Open Days and on Campus Experience days.

Leadership Talk

with a leadership talk which is an informal presentation by the school leader or deans covering what the organisation and school has to offer your child. This will cover the learning approach, the curriculum, extracurriculars and clubs, the teaching staff and their professional development and the overall Nova Pioneer vision.

School Tour

Have a guided experience around our schools. See the on campus offering, facilities and see how our classroom is structured.
