Frequently Asked Questions
What is the age policy?
At Nova Pioneer, we are very intentional about ensuring that each student achieves their full potential, and all of our policies are designed with that impact in mind. The Nova Pioneer Age Admission Policy is non-negotiable. It is designed to ensure that none of our students are at a disadvantage in their personal development.
The admission age to our Grade 000 class is age three turning four in the year of admission. Therefore, students are admitted to Grade 00 in the year that they turn five, while Grade R students are only admitted in the year that they turn six, and so on. This age must be confirmed by an official identity document or birth certificate.
What Curriculum does Nova Pioneer follow?
We follow the Cambridge Curriculum. At Primary level, we include elements of the Singapore Maths programme and use THRASS (Teaching Handwriting, Reading And Spelling Skills) as part of our literacy programme. At a Secondary Level, students are required to complete their AS Level examinations in Grade 11 and 12. From 2020, Nova Pioneer will offer A-Levels to both internal and external candidates.
What costs will prospective parents incur during the application process?
There is a R250 non-refundable Admissions Fee that is required for the processing of all applications. This is due before attendance of one of our Open Days or Campus Experiences. Results from your child's assessment shall not be released until the payment is processed and proof of payment has been sent to the relevant admissions officer.
Once your child has been accepted, you will be required to pay a R3000 deposit for grades 000 and 00, and a R6000 deposit for Grade R and upwards. This deposit is refundable provided your child takes up their place in the school, and a full terms notice if given should you choose to leave the school.
Is the Notice Deposit refundable?
The deposit is only refundable under the following conditions:
1. Once the learner completes their Grade 12 education with Nova Pioneer or
2. Once a parent has notified the school, in writing and a term in advance, of their intentions to remove their child from Nova Pioneer.
Should a parent change their mind about enrolling their child with the Nova Pioneer before the school term begins, they will forfeit their deposit.
What extra murals are provided by the school, and does this incur additional cost?
Each campus offers compulsory co-curricular activities, and some optional, that are included in the school fees. These activities vary on every campus and usually take place during school hours. Please see your specific campus of choice to see what activities are offered for free.
In addition, Nova Pioneer works closely with a number of external vendors who provide specialised activities which come at an extra cost. These include Mandarin, Monkeynastics, ballet, karate, soccer, rugby, drama, Young Scientists etc. A full list of extracurricular activities offered at your campus of interest can be provided upon request.
