Carla Hercules’s career in education started at Bushlands Primary in Durban as a Grade 4 teacher. She relocated to Johannesburg in 2000 and joined Sharonlea Primary School for the next 18 years. Carla dedicated most of this time to her professional development and grew as a leader in various roles – from Head of Department, Deputy Principal and subsequently School Leader for 8 years before deciding to explore new opportunities at Nova Pioneer in 2018.

Sizo Chalufu was previously a Dean of Instruction at Nova Pioneer Ormonde Senior School, and returned to Nova Pioneer in 2024 after 3 years at St. Stithians College.  A dedicated instructional leader and culture builder, Sizo has served in a breadth of both instructional and pastoral leadership roles over his career.  In addition to his time at Nova Pioneer and St. Stithians, Mr. Chalufu has worked at Michaelhouse, Hilton College, and St. Charles College in KwaZulu Natal.  He is in process to receive his Masters in Education and Instructional Technology from the University of Johannesburg, a Diploma in Business Administration from Varsity College, and a Bachelor of Education with Honours from the University of KwaZulu Natal.
